Well, I only got 6180 words for Nano... BUT
I put up maybe 15 pages on the new website No Type 2 Life . Some of the pages took coding, and since they are recipes, I had to enter the information twice. Once to track calories and macronutrients, and once for the website page. That first time wasn't checked because it went into MyFitnessPal.
Plus all the other pages. And the re-work of the breadcrumb links (linking between pages). And getting the exercise pages started. And got a newsletter issue out. OH, and the background was too distracting, so I faded it out. That took several hours of tinkering in Photoshop.
So, maybe I only got roughly 6100 words for Nano - But I wrote a massive amount. Not so bad, taken in context. AND there were three completed short stories in the Nano writing!
Grammarly checked my pages, and that showed over 31,000 words checked. That doesn't include FB.
And meanwhile Facebook has been fighting me. And the political situation has made it difficult for me to work. The Net has slowed to a crawl. And now this horrible tax bill that makes it difficult if not impossible for start-up businesses to grow.
I see where this thing can go on this. I see license distribution. I see B&M clinics across the country selling the supplements, counseling folks and teaching the exercises. I see a real change in the pre-diabetic world and the threat of obesity.
But that takes an immense investment of time and money. I don't know if I can do it. I don't know where to get the money. I have time, but not enough. I need experts brought on board.
So, over all, I've been pretty productive.

Saying "Yes"
OK. I've been thinking about this for a LONG time, and the Universe got behind me and provided the coach I needed. I'm starting a training program for Triathlons. Not that I intend to compete, but I want to change my body and my outlook. I've always stopped myself before.
A friend turned out to have been in the same health position I find myself in -without the injuries, which is nice for her - and she turned it around about 9 months ago. Yep, A1c of 7.0+, fasting sugars in the 300s (both my numbers are lower) and weight creeping up. She and I both have sympathetic doctors and have not been "diagnosed" as diabetic. So that's a blessing of a sort...
She began training and lost the weight. She dropped her sugars and A1c to "normal" ranges. She's agreed to coach me into health using the Triathlon training model.
There's a training model "Couch to -" which takes the subject from a couch potato to competing in some sport - whether it's a 5K or a Triathlon, or even Olympic sports... We are using the "Couch to Triathlon" model found at the Couch to Sprint Triathlon website. It's a simple, accelerated program.
Since the "competition season" just ended, I'll have nearly a year to get into shape for my first competition - IF I choose to do so.
I'll post updates as I progress. First is to get into the rhythm of doing it.
My first exercise is going to the pool and swimming 100 meters. I got signed up today. I don't have a suit that fits, but I have a form-fitting tank with a sportsbra and cotton swimming shorts. That will have to do.
A friend has offered me her bike, so I can ride the Tweetsie Trail as part of my biking requirement. I also have a stationary bike in the apartment building I can use.
As for the Running - well... Doctor England, my knee doctor, doesn't
want me on a treadmill. I don't intend to run on this knee, either. So,
I'll "speed walk" as best I can to get my hips moving. That will be on
the concrete sidewalks around here and the Tweetsie Trail.
I've mentioned the Tweetsie Trail. This is one of the "rails to trails" projects found in the southeast, and is a pleasant little trail between Johnson City and Elizabethton, TN. It's gravel, packed dirt and concrete. I think there might even be some asphalt patches. It's been popular since it was completed. I live near the Appalachian Trail, so it may become possible that through this training I can hike some of it later on.
Well, that's the news. Hope I don't disappoint myself by my results. I also hope I can keep up the training and don't flake on myself. I have a LOT of fear about this. Most of the fear has to do with body-image stuff. I get emotional and eat to keep myself heavy so that I don't feel "sexy" and attract men. That is why most of the "diet programs" I've tried haven't worked. There is a lot of emotional baggage that I carry which needs to be worked through.
Having my coach will help. I have someone I'm accountable to. I have another woman I can talk to about the emotional issues. And truly, both these women can help me with the emotional baggage. I trust them. I also need to trust myself. At times, there WILL be tears. It's OK to cry and go through the pain. It's always better having been through it, when I come out the other side. The issues I'm dealing with are the biggest issues of my life. These are the things that have held me back over and over again.
How does all this tie back to my book? Well, it's all about Type 2 Diabetes. A body that is overweight has a much higher chance of becoming diabetic. I'm severely at risk. The best example I can provide my readers is a successful outcome.

Better from Dentures, but Not from Foods?
My teeth are fitting better, they don't slide around and there is little to no pain.
However, I'm back to my sleeping after I eat, spending the whole day snoozing instead of doing anything, and it happens every time I eat. I finally got sick of it and made an appointment with the doctor again. Last time I went in to discuss this, I was pretty much ignored, but I plan on putting together more "evidence" with a log, and a food diary to help the doc make some decisions and get the tests I need.
I'm pretty sure this is a combination of two things - food allergies and pre-diabetes. I think that the foods causing this are things I'm probably not supposed to eat (bet very prevalent in today's diets) and that my blood sugar is reacting to them. Things like white rice and pasta.
I cook the good stuff - whole grains and brown rice - when I cook from scratch, and I don't add HFCS to my scratch recipes. In fact I use no corn products at all, knowing I'm allergic to corn. But corn, white refined flour and white rice are used exclusively in the foodservice industry to make prepared foods and frozen meals.
So, if I take any shortcuts and use pre-packaged meals, I'm taking my life in my hands. That doesn't speak well for the foodservice industry. I don't believe they are trying to kill their customers, but the effect is the same.
I don't have epstein-barr, or chronic fatigue, but the results mimic it when I eat.
I can even eat really healthy and have the same results, right now. I eat my fruit and protein shake in the morning, and I have to nap within 60 minutes. Only 10 minutes, but still, I have to shut down. If I eat anything more heavy, and I could be out for two hours or more. Even eggs. And if I add hash browns to eggs, I'm out for a couple of hours.
Pancakes are a total disaster, with me being out for up to six hours. I stopped eating those about a year ago.
This is blood sugar insanity at it's finest! The scariest part, is that I might have to pull over when I'm driving if I've eaten the wrong food beforehand.
The world goes dizzy, I can't concentrate, then I'm OUT. I have very little warning. So, I tend to be hungry when I drive.
I have a long drive this coming Saturday morning, which will be a regular commute for me over the next three years. So, coffee and no food.
No wonder my weight is high - I can't eat breakfast and drive anyplace. Not and be safe. And breakfast is the most important meal of the day for your metabolism.
Well, I'll see what the doc says on April 18. Yeah, that's the earliest I could get in. It's like pulling teeth to get in right away. You have to be really sick.

Started School & They Showed Up (?)
Yeah - lets jump to it - Habitat guys showed up, went up into the attic and then I had to take my shower so I didn't find out if they found that D*&)ed Alarm.
I slept on the chair last night, just so I could make it today. I had to start school, with my first class at 9:15. From there I went to work then home to eat. I have KEW (for those not privvy... http://womencreatingwealthonline.com/) and then I get to be home about 10 tonight.
No program stuff today, other than continuing to listen to speaker tapes. Oh, and got a call from somebody who probably will hound me for the next 3 months while she avoids doing what she should do Right Away! to stay sober. Oh well, at least I'm not her. And if she doesn't follow through this time, I'll tell her to quit calling. I'm not going to be her doormat or her excuse. If she wants to stay sober, she will make her amends, it's just that simple.
Next class is Monday evening. I STILL don't have the financial aid and school stuff sorted out! I called again tonight, and it's because the major - that I filed to change 2 days ago, still hasn't been processed. I'm in danger of being dropped from all the classes and having a huge bill because somebody didn't bother to put the change thru.
On top of beginner diabetes, this is not a fun time. Cats are good, though. I guess I can be thankful for that.
